Ryan and Hannah met the summer of 2020 on Bumble—proof that sometimes all it takes is one swipe and a really good algorithm. Hannah was drawn to Ryan’s profile because he said he was looking for something serious… and because of the long hair and beard (obviously). Ryan was immediately taken by Hannah’s blue eyes and curly hair.

For their first date, they went on a hike at Oak Mountain State Park, then went bowling just so they could keep the conversation going. They quickly connected over their love of music and outlook on life. Hannah left thinking Ryan wasn’t interested—he was very quiet—but he proved her wrong by asking for a second date almost immediately.

As weekends turned into long drives, they realized things were getting serious. For the first year and a half, Ryan and Hannah drove two hours to see each other every weekend. It was challenging, but absolutely worth it. In 2021, Hannah decided it was time for a new job… and a move to Birmingham to be closer to Ryan.

One of the defining moments of their relationship was moving in together. To their surprise, it felt effortless—like they had been doing life side by side for years. Ryan slipped into the role of “dog dad” to Hannah’s dog, Gypsy, without hesitation, and Gypsy approved of him almost immediately (the ultimate stamp of approval).

Ryan proposed on their five-year anniversary. They were headed out to a nice dinner when Ryan asked Hannah if she was forgetting anything. After Hannah confidently said “no,” Ryan said, “Wait! I forgot something!” She turned around to find him down on one knee with the perfect ring in hand. There were happy tears and maybe a slightly delayed dinner reservation.

Ryan and Hannah balance each other in all the best ways. Hannah loves that Ryan is calming and steady—her rock—always listening and stepping in when she needs help. Ryan loves that Hannah is beautiful, organized, and driven, and that she somehow keeps their life running smoothly.

Now, after years of road trips, concerts, hikes, and paying the bills together, we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all the people who’ve supported us along the way.
